Charles Gale profile
In addition to a broad experience of Learning and Organisational Development, Charles has some 20 years experience worked in a variety of UK and international roles with companies such as SmithKline Beecham, GSK and AstraZeneca. These include some 5 years as a Regional Director for the French Africa markets and 10 years as Director Marketing for Africa, the Maghreb and the French speaking overseas markets. Charles has wide experience of how large organisations actually function, having worked in pharmaceutical, Consumer and FMCG sales and marketing. In the arena of Learning & Development, Charles has worked on a number of large scale culture change initiatives, has experience of using emotional intelligence approaches to top team mentoring and improving team performance and has managed training strategy and implementation for a 1,000 strong UK Pharma sales force. Most recently Charles was responsible of "top team" Leadership Development at AstraZeneca in the UK, which included working with Ashridge Business School to develop a new Senior Leadership Programme. Charles has been involved in Emotional Intelligence / EQ-i based projects almost since the founding of EI World in 1999 and he was among the very first EQ-i practitioners to be accredited in the UK. A graduate of the Stanford Business School senior executive programme, Charles is certified in the use of the EQ-I (emotional intelligence) and is a Cialdini method certified trainer (principles of persuasion and social influence). Charles has had experience working with India based businesses during the time he spent as an International Marketing Director at SmithKline Beecham. Specifically, he was involved in setting up a successful JV with Medriech-Sterliabs to supply pharmaceuticals to the Africa market. In the last year, Charles has worked on projects with a number of high profile clients including Wyeth, Novartis Global Marketing and Astellas in the Pharma sector, the UK Home Office (writing guidelines for UK Government communications in the fields of pro-social and anti-social communications), the Halifax Bank of Scotland, as well senior executive coaching, various speaking engagements and emotional intelligence work.
