This has allowed me to apply my underlying analytical expertise to different business disciplines. Combining this with an artistic flair to build client relationships, I have been able to enable both business and personal growth opportunities’.

Most recently, Fiona built a new European High Yield investment business and team for the fourth largest global bond manager. Over eight years, with zero personnel attrition, the fund attained a 4* Morningstar ranking, the team were listed as finalists for Fund Manager of the Year two years in a row in 2021/2022, Won the 2020 Lipper Award for their category and Fiona won an Investment Week Women in Investment Award in 2019. “The judges thought the winner [Fiona] had an original approach and is inspiring to everyone, not just women. Her personal transformation was impressive as she was brave and ran against conformity in the industry”.

Understanding corporate companies have been Fiona’s bedrock for success. Whether working for a rating agency, insurance broker, investment banking advisory, sell-side research and asset management, Fiona’s skill in assessing companies’ strengths and weaknesses has been her success. Key has been the ability not only to unpick detailed numbers, but also to understand management’s strategic vision and capabilities.

Fiona places key emphasis for her success on her upbringing as a musician. ‘Conducting an orchestra or singing in a choir, one simply cannot ignore exacting details, it will sound awful! At the same time, you need a team of people performing with similar energy and emotion to achieve colourful and moving performance’. This approach has resulted in colleagues in her 360-feedback commenting she is a “Born manager”, “An outstanding teacher as well as mentor” and “perfect balance between allowing me to come to conclusions on my own and giving me feedback”.

Fiona studied music at Somerville College, Oxford, attended Trinity College of Music Junior School from the age of 9 and attended Kinglsey School for Girls, Leamington Spa.  Fiona worked for Goldman Sachs Asset Management for the last 13 years, previously also Pramerica Asset Management (PruFin US), Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, Standard & Poor’s and JIB Group (Jardine Lloyd Thompson).
